On Monday, Gupta had filed a defamation suit against Rai, who has accused the former of violating government order by first inducting more than permissible people as staffs in his cell (mantra-koshang) and then referring everyone including himself for Covid incentive. The government has announced to provide one month’s additional salary to all Covid warriors.
The Congress, however, is more uncomfortable by the constant attack by BJP on the chief minister. Party sources said the recent ante on CM has put everyone in a tight spot. “While our leader Rahul Gandhi is taking on Narendra Modi and his government nationally on several issues including corruption, such allegations against CM where we are in power, tends to push us on back foot,” he said.
