The PSI recruitment scam has taken a new twist with nine MLAs of all the three parties including the ruling BJP batting for honest candidates. They have written a letter to home minister Araga Jnanendra to give appointment orders to the candidates who wrote the examinations honestly.

Scam

Six of the nine MLAs, who have written letters to home minister are from the BJP. Among the remaining three, two are from the Congress while one is from the JD (S). BJP MLAs P Rajiv, Sunil B Naika, K Raghupati Bhat, Rajkumar Patil Telkura, Lalaji R Mendon, Harish Poonja, Congress MLAs J N Ganesh, K Raghavendra Hitnal and K S Lingesh of JD (S) are the ones who have written the letter.

In the letter, the MLAs said, “Scientific technology can be used to detect the candidates who have committed fraud. It is not right to do injustice to many honest candidates because of a few cheaters. It is the duty of the government to protect them. So instead of holding a re-examination, appointment orders should be given to those who have written the examinations honestly.”

Irony is that the same BJP MLAs had welcomed the cancellation of the earlier examination results by the home minister. They said that injustice is meted out to those who have studied hard, so the whole examination should be cancelled and re-examination should be held. However, now they have taken a U-turn. It is learnt that there is some political motive behind this demand by the MLAs.

Last year, the examination for PSI posts was held. Recently it came to light that a huge scam has taken place in the examination. Police have arrested more than 50 people in this connection. Out of these 30 are candidates who have written the examination. The issue caused quite a sensation throughout the state. Now, the government has cancelled the whole process and ordered a re-examination. However, the letter of MLAs has created political speculations.
